Hard Coating Series
AlTi-based Coatings
AlTiN coatings offer high hardness and a good stability at high temperatures. They are applied on thermally stressed tools at medium and high cutting speeds.
In combination with a low affinity with friction welding, AlTiN is excellent for machining of hard steels or Titanium alloys.
As a further development of AlTiN-coatings AlTiN+ has higher hardness. At the same time the multilayer structure of the coating minimizes possible crack formations. In total the lifetime of AlTiN+ coated tools is increased when machining hard materials.
The TiNAl+ coating shows an excellent thermal stability and an optimized relation between hardness and compressive residual stress. Due to its good toughness and excellent wear resistance the TiNAl+ coating is predestined for milling and drilling a wide range of low- and high-strength tool steels or for forming high-strength sheet metal.
AlTiN-coatings are available in different compositions, i.e. the amount of Aluminum and the corresponding Ti-proportion can be widely varied in quantity. Ultimately the composition of the coating is determined by the application requirements
